- This is the time where real gardening begins! Raking, pruning, digging and planting. All of your hard work now will certainly be gratifying for summer relaxation!
- Prepare those garden beds for planting. Add organic material such as compost.
- Burlap left on evergreens to prevent winter burn may be removed.
- Remove collars or huts from roses and prune leggy and spindly growth.
- Rake lawn, repair damage and seed bare spots. Remember, the thicker your lawn, the less weeds you will have!
- Do you have an issue with crabgrass? Apply a crabgrass pre-emergent herbicide such as CIL Bio-Weed & Feed on sale for $31.99 9kg bag.
- If you just need to fertilize your lawn, use a slow-release fertilizer such as CIL Golfgreen 12-3-18 on sale for $20.79 7kg bag.
- Store outdoor plants inside during the night and harden them off by putting them outdoors during the day.
- Be prepared to cover plants such as newly planted annuals, tender perennials and Japanese maples when there is a risk of frost at night.
- Add some color to your landscape with pansies. They are able to handle the frosty nights that are still to come here in southern Ontario
